san diego wedding feature!

•August 21, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I’m really excited because one of my most recent wedding couples (Janie and Hamid) were featured today in La Jolla Light – a newspaper from the San Diego, California area. Nicole (the author) did a great job of capturing Janie and Hamid’s wonderful story. And their story is truly unique (and romantic, I might add). When I’d read about how Janie and Hamid met on their wedding planning site – and how Hamid proposed – I couldn’t wait to meet them in person after they hired me to be their wedding photographer!

The story even featured several of my photos from their beautiful wedding overlooking the California coastline at Mt. Soledad Park.

Check it out! Click on the image of the story below to see their story:

cabo wedding – part I

I’m actually proud of myself – this is my second journal entry within a week! Based on my recent performance, that’s pretty good. Ha ha!

I recently traveled down to Mexico to photograph the wedding of Lindsey and Ken in San Jose del Cabo. What a beautiful place! And I loved that everything was so convenient. The wedding and reception were all held at the Cabo Surf Hotel – I would highly recommend this place to anybody. Oh, and if you go whatever you do make sure you don’t forget your complimentary “welcome” margarita – it’s one of the best I’ve ever had!

Another cool surprise was when a lady came up to me and just started chatting me up at the hotel. I thought she looked really familiar. I was later informed that the lady was Cloris Leachman. I knew she had been on a few TV shows, but when I checked out her resume I realized why she was so etched in my memory – she appeared on practically every TV show I watched as a kid (enter Love Boat theme here).

So, here are a few pictures from Lindsey and Ken’s engagement session. Those two were awesome! They were great models – whatever I asked them to do, they did it – such as lying in chilly Pacific water for some great beach shots . . . enjoy . . .

busy wedding season!

I cannot believe it has been almost three months since my last post.  Wow!  It has been a very busy Wedding and Lifestyle Photo Session season and I am glad to finally be able to sit down to share with you some of the stories from the wonderful people I have been meeting along the way over the past several weeks!

I promise to share with you some more pictures from my recent weddings . . . so, let’s begin with a wedding I photographed in Orlando, Florida for Stephanie and Billy.  They’re a great couple!  Both the Engagement Session and wedding took place in Orlando.  And the kids at their wedding were a riot – what great personalities!  Thanks, Stephanie and Billy . . . I look forward to getting together and getting some nice family shots when I see you soon!  :-)

muy bonita cabo wedding!

It’s been a while since my last post, I know.  Wedding season has left me without much time to breathe, much less stay on top of my BLOG entries.  Excuses, excuses, excuses . . .

However, I wanted to share a couple of candids from this past weekend’s wedding in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.  We had a BLAST!  And I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful couple from California, Lindsey and Ken.  I’m really looking forward to seeing them again soon – they were tons of fun to work with!

I’ll be sure to post some pictures from this gorgeous wedding, but in the meantime check out some pictures of me taken by my friend (and awesome wedding-day assistant), Juliet.  She captured these shots the day before the wedding – while I was photographing Lindsey and Ken at our pre-wedding photo session at Chilleno Bay.

Is this place gorgeous, or what?  And don’t even get me started on the food and margaritas!  Yummm . . .

st. petersburg wedding

This past weekend I photographed a beautiful wedding at the Don CeSar Resort in St. Petersburg, Florida. It was my first time to this famous Florida resort, although I’d driven by it several times in the past. It is a really beautiful hotel . . . my favorite part? It sits right on the beach! Niiice!

I photographed the wedding with a wonderful photographer from north Florida, Mary Beth Tyson.

Here are a few images from Saturday . . .

back to school

This past weekend was really nice!  My high school inducted me into its sports hall of fame! It certainly came as a surprise, but it meant a lot to me to be recognized.I mentioned at the banquet that the most wonderful thing about receiving an honor like this is that it’s not really my award … in my opinion, awards such as this are simply a reflection of the many wonderful mentors (teachers, coaches, family, teammates) we’ve been so fortunate and blessed to have had while growing in our respective sports. It was fun to see lots of people I haven’t seen since high school – and to share some fun memories from that time. It was especially meaningful because I was introduced by one of my closest friends, Charles, and he brought his entire family – including his son, Parker who also happens to be my godson. Here are a couple of pictures from the banquet … the first is a picture of me with the other honorees (that’s me on the far right) and the other is me with my stud godson, Parker.

orlando wedding

I recently shot a wedding for an awesome couple here in Orlando! Their names are Christina and Joe and every experience I had with them – whether it was shooting their engagement session, or shooting their wedding – was an absolute blast!  They’re a very funny couple (of course, it helps that we share the same twisted sense of humor)!

I also included a picture of Christina’s sister (see third pic below!) in the event someone from a mascara company checks out this entry and is currently seeking a new spokesmodel – ha ha!

We had a great time!  Here are a few images from the big day! . . .

a great gift idea!

This Christmas I received a wonderful gift – a credit to be used on Kiva (check out the site here!).

Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world. By choosing a loan on Kiva, you can “sponsor a business” and help the world’s working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the entrepreneur you’ve sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back.

I absolutely love this idea!

Kiva partners with existing microfinance institutions. In doing so, Kiva gains access to outstanding entrepreneurs from impoverished communities world-wide. Their partners are experts in choosing qualified entrepreneurs. That said, they are usually short on funds. Through Kiva, their partners upload their entrepreneur profiles directly to the site so you can lend to them.

I’ve made three (3) donations/loans, so far!

I can’t wait to see how it goes! Just another way to make a difference . . .

GO GIANTS! … website update!

•February 4, 2008 • 3 Comments

Wow!

I am so happy the Giants won in Super Bowl XLII yesterday! What a great game! Some of you might know I played Quarterback for the NY Giants back in 1993 and 1994. Ok, maybe the word “played” isn’t the most appropriate word to use since I never saw action in an actual game (ha ha!) – but hey, I was at least on the team for a little bit! Amazingly there’s still one guy who is still playing for the Giants from when I was on the team … Michael Strahan. Michael had a great individual effort last night!

In other news I am excited to report that I have (finally) updated my website with LOTS of new pictures from a few recent weddings and engagement sessions! Check them out in the WEDDINGS section of the site when you get a chance (www.brianfoxphotography.com) … or, click on my logo below! As always, I welcome any and all feedback!

Thanks!
