april model session
What a crazy couple of weeks this has been! I’m not complaining, though. I love what I do! And this fall and next winter are shaping up to be very busy months for me, too! Lots of
weddings and portrait documentary sessions lining up! Should be a lot of fun!
Although I specialize in wedding and portrait documentary photography I’m also frequently hired to do head shots and photo pictorials for actors and models. Last summer I was living in L.A. and I honestly think I could have set-up a corner “photography” stand and easily filled each day with at least three or four photo sessions for existing and aspiring models and actors! It’s fun, though! I view each and every photo session as an opportunity to get creative and let my imagination run wild!
This past week I was asked to photograph a local model/actress who needed some head shots before heading up to New York City for her “big break” next month! Her name is An and, needless to say, she’s quite photogenic. We had such great weather and a beautiful sunset for the photo session although the temperature must have dropped at least 20 degrees during our shoot. Brrrrr! You certainly can’t tell by looking at An (she’s a pro) but I can tell you that I was freezing! This Florida boy doesn’t do well in temperatures below 60!
I frequently tell my clients that in my opinion every person is photogenic – it’s just a matter of getting comfortable in front of the camera – which isn’t difficult if the photographer’s and subject’s personalities mesh well together. Perhaps that’s why I prefer a documentary style to my photographs – not a big fan of posing people. However, as a photographer you occasionally get to work with somebody who makes your job easy. Such was the case with An . . . best of luck, An! You’re going to rock NYC!
